Mary Alice Haines, 86, formerly of Lafayette passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Delmar Gardens Of O'Fallon, O'Fallon, MO. She was born July 19, 1928, in Lafayette, to the late Jacob and Edna Cox Combs. Mary Alice graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1946 and on August 27, 1950 she married Donald L. Haines in Colburn and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2007. Mrs. Haines worked at Sears & Roebuck for 27 years and is retired. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where she had received recognition as a 60 year member, and was active with the Library Ladies and Circle One. Mary Alice was a member of the Sears Retirees Club; and, enjoyed playing bingo and visiting family and friends. Surviving are her daughters Nancy L. Haines of Springfield, IL; Sherry L. Freestone (William W.) of Saint Peters, MO; and, a granddaughter Amy M. Freestone of Bothell, WA. Mary Alice was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy M. Martin and a foster brother Robert W. German. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Dr. Jeff Cover officiating. Interment will be in Spring Vale Cemetery.
