Marquita M. (Holsclaw) Frier Armes, formerly of Lafayette, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, at her daughter Karen’s home in Clearwater, Florida.

She was born December 7, 1935, in Lafayette to the late James L. and Bertha E. (Justice) Holsclaw. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School. On December 10, 1952, she married James Robert “Buck” Frier Sr. in Lafayette and they were married 23 years. James preceded her in death September 23, 1975.  She then married Frank L. Armes on July 18, 1978, in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2012.  Marquita worked along-side Frank as a Truck Driver for 10 years.

She enjoyed gardening and flowers, watching “Days of Our Lives”, “Naked and Afraid”, and “My 600 lb Life.”  She also like to watch Tony Stewart and NASCAR and enjoyed all sports.  In her teenage years she would go to WASK Radio Station and sing and dedicate “You are my Sunshine” to Buck.  Above all, she loved and cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by 5 children, Gary R. (Jill) Frier of Ellington, FL, Tina M. (Michael) Hall of Mulberry, Larry D. (Debbie) Frier of Clearwater, FL, Karen A. Price of Clearwater, FL, James (Debie) Frier Jr. of Lafayette; 2 step-sons, Richard L. Armes Sr. and Thomas L. Armes, both of Lafayette; 9 Grandchildren, Adam (Sarah) Frier, Clifton (Kristy) Frier, Kristi Hall, Tiffany (Jarrett) McDaniel, Brittany Hall, Heather Frier, Crystal Denny, Naci (Charlie) Wright, Jami Frier; 3 step-grandchildren, Rick Armes, Melissa Strong, and Cody Armes; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Gordon Holsclaw of Lafayette, Joseph Holsclaw of Lafayette, Bill (Melanie) Holsclaw of Frankfort, and Lynn (Jean) Sheets of Lafayette.

Along with her husbands, James and Frank and her parents, James and Bertha, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Holsclaw; 3 brothers, Richard, Harold “Sonny”, and Jim Holsclaw; a son-in-law, Dave Price; and granddaughter, Holly Frier.

Memorial contributions in Marquita’s name may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. Joe Park Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow at Dayton Cemetery.
