Marjorie L. Catron Jackson

Marjorie Catron Jackson, 97, passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2026, in Lafayette, Indiana. Marge was born in Clinton County, Indiana, on March 14th, 1929, and grew up on a farm east of Middlefork, Indiana.
Marge graduated from Rossville High School in 1947. She married Anthony Hatke on November 22nd, 1952, at St. Boniface Church in Lafayette. After their marriage ended, Marge married Don Jackson from Rossville in 1993. They shared six happy years together before Don passed in 1999.
During her life, Marge worked at Retail Clerks Union, was an Avon Representative, and was a cashier at Eisner/Jewel.
Marge was at the center of the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her home was the family gathering place for dinner and double-deck bid euchre games when everyone came home to Lafayette. Her daily routine for at least the past 40 years included: a notebook for recording the weather—a habit she picked-up from her sweet stepmother, Mabel; reading “The Lafayette Journal and Courier”; and two daily crossword puzzles. As a result, her mind was razor sharp. Some of the information you could retrieve from Marge at the drop of a hat: yesterday’s DOW closing; what the weather was two weeks ago; and what times and days her great-grandchildren went to preschool.
Perhaps Mom’s enduring legacy was loving communication. It became her personal ministry even when she could barely hold a pen. She sent hundreds of cards over the years to family and friends for birthdays, anniversaries, births, sympathy, get-well . . . whatever. Anyone reading this most likely received a card from Marge in her incredible handwriting.
Marge is survived by her children: Linda Bliton of Lafayette, Trudy Roe of West Lafayette; Kathy (John) Aro of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan; Anita (Alex) Keddie of Carmel, IN; and Tim Hatke of South Portland, Maine. She is also survived by grandchildren Ryan Bliton, Reilly (Whitney) Bliton, Jarrett Bliton, Patrick (Alexa) Roe, Jenna (Kurtis) Arbuckle, Pierce (Cassidy) Roe, Glen (Xib) Aro, Michael Aro, Elaine Aro, and Vladic Keddie, in addition to eight great-grandchildren. Marge had a loving relationship with her four step-children: Larry (Judi) Jackson; Kevin (Kathy) Jackson; and Mona Jo Jackson and Julie Jackson Morrissey, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Ruby Blanche Catron, and step-mother Mabel Roll Catron; husband Don Jackson; sisters Julia (John) Milner and Ava Ann (Howard) McGill; infant brother Devaun Catron; sons-in-law Rich Bliton, Michael Roe and Dan Conley; and granddaughter-in-law Erika Aro.
A celebration of Marge’s life is planned for the fall.
