“Sonny” Marion Eugene Bower Jr., 74, of Rochester, IL, formerly of Attica, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at his home.
He was born November 15, 1947, in Lafayette, to the late Marion “Gene” and Helen (Lake) Bower. He attended Rossville High School and worked as a laborer. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1966 – 1969 and 1971-1974 and served 2 back-to-back tours in Vietnam. On October 3, 1986, he married, Cindy Parker in White County and she survives.
He enjoyed music and singing. He loved living the farm life and gardening. He was a hard worker and a family man. He cherished time spent with his family. Family was everything to him.
He is survived by his wife Cindy Bower; children, Wyatte and Grant Bower of Rochester, IL, Yancey (Alyssa) Bower of Bronson, MI, Jami Bower of Bloomington, Tacoma (Jessica) Bower of Lafayette, Tahessia (Benjaman) Barnett of Williamsport, Alana (Berry) Glotzbach of Lafayette, Nickia (Cecil) Payton of Greencastle, Kira (Brandon) Terry of Veedersburg, Kimberly Woods of Boswell, Katherine (Daniel) Dreher-Salinak of Salina, KS, Barbara Bower of Salina, KS, Richard “Buddy” Blevins of Salina, KS; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. John (Linda) Bower of Portland, TN; sister, Betty (Jerry) Marshall of Reynolds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Marion C. and Mary (Richardson) Bower and Elbert and Ada (Atwell) Lake.
Special thanks from the family to everyone who took time out of the schedules to visit and spend time with Sonny, especially his care givers, Kristina Shidler, Crystal Smith, and Mac Hagins.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. A graveside service will follow at Wyandotte Cemetery with Pastor Josh Barnett officiating.
