Marilyn (Lynn) Redmon, formerly of Lafayette, IN and Ellenton, FL, passed away on March 13, 2024, in Zionsville, IN.
Lynn was born on November 7, 1935, the only child of Harry and Mae Stouse. She was raised in Kokomo, IN, and at Lake Freeman, in Monticello, IN. Lynn was a graduate of Kokomo High School, Ball State Teachers College, and received a Masters in Education from Purdue University. While teaching in Gary, IN, where her family had relocated, she professionally modeled in Chicago.
While working a summer job at The Pirates Roost on Lake Freeman, in 1957, she was asked out on a boat ride double date. Later that evening, Tom Redmon showed up with no other couple and no boat. Lynn went on the date, and the rest was history…they were married on June 27, 1959, and celebrated 61 years of marriage, before Tom passed away in 2020. Their union produced two daughters, Kelly Wendt, and Kristi Redmon, who was tragically killed in 2016.
While not spending time with her family, Lynn had a 33 year teaching career, with the majority of her time spent at Murdock Elementary School. There she made lifetime friends and impacted hundreds of children through her dedication to education. A proud member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, she served as a Chapter Advisor at Purdue University, and as a Regional Director for Purdue, Hanover and Indiana State University. Lynn thoroughly enjoyed her roles at AOII, and especially loved the national conventions which were held all over the United States.
Lynn and Tom had a large circle of friends from work, their neighborhoods, Brown Street United Methodist Church and their time spent in Ellenton, FL. Lynn loved to travel, and especially enjoyed the Captains Dinners on cruise ships, trips to Hawaii and Alaska, and many adventures in the Caribbean. Ottawa Beach, in Holland MI was also the site of many vacations with family and friends.
Lynn is survived by her daughter, Kelly Wendt, her son-in-law, Jim Wendt, and her favorite people, her grandchildren: Skylar Redmon, Arielle Redmon, Claire Wendt, Kiley Wendt, and Blake Wendt. She additionally leaves two sisters-in-law, Frances Flora Burton (Dean), and Linda Redmon. Last but certainly not least, is Sadie, her faithful Schnauzer. The family wants to thank Independence Village of West Zionsville, and Paradigm Health, which allowed her to live her best life, after Tom passed away in 2020.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her church home, Brown Street United Methodist Church, where services will be held on March 21, 2024. Visitation will start at 10:30, with a funeral service to follow at 11:30.
