Marilyn J. Matlock, 86, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, at Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette, IN.
She was born on April 21, 1939, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late Scott and Jennie (Kemp) Bozarth. Marilyn attended Wea High School and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1957.
She was married to Richard J. Matlock, who preceded her in death in 2005. Her devoted partner of 19 years, Larry Orr, will miss her greatly.
Marilyn cherished time spent with her family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Wabash Homemakers Extension Club and served as President of the Tippecanoe County Indiana Extension Club from 2011 to 2012. She also volunteered with the former St. Elizabeth Hospice Organization.
She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, attending Bluegrass festivals, and spending Friday nights with friends at the Lafayette Eagles Club #347. Marilyn was an enthusiastic sports fan, cheering for both Purdue University and recently Indiana University – because of her grandson attending there.
Surviving are her children, Kimberleigh (Michael) Szaz of Cincinnati and Derek (Denise) Matlock of Rossville; three grandchildren, Taylor (Patrick) Reece, Amanda (Brittany) Snow, and Tyson Matlock; and two great-grandchildren, Victor and Kellan Reece, all of whom she loved dearly.
A private graveside service will be held, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Lafayette Eagles Club on a date yet to be determined.
