Marilyn Irene Balser, 94, of Crawfordsville, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Franciscan Health, Crawfordsville.
She was born July 17, 1931, in Delphi, to John Clifford and Helen (Leaman) Rishel.
Marilyn attended Monitor High School. On October 7, 1961, she married Ralph A. Balser in Lafayette. Ralph preceded her in death on October 13, 2015.
Marilyn worked as an Office Clerk for Indiana Bell and later AT& for over 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and gardening. Above all, she enjoyed being a caretaker for her husband and children. She cherished all of her time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by 2 sons, Randy D. Balser and Jerry A. Balser, both of Crawfordsville; and 3 half siblings, Rhonda, Ricky and Randy Rishel.
Along with her husband, Ralph Allen Balser, she was preceded in death by her parents, John Clifford and Helen Gertrude Rishel; and 2 brothers Floyd A. Rishel and James “Jimmy” C. Rishel.
Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s name may be given to American Cancer Society
Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Service will be at 11:30 am on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Interment will be at Rainsville Cemetery, Rainsville, IN.
