Marian Bernice Wiley, 95, a long time resident of West Lafayette, IN, died at 2:30 AM Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. Marian was born May 22, 1918, in Battle Creek , MI, to the late Robert and Mary Bernice German Phillips. Marian graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and attended Purdue University. She married William (Bill) E. Charles of West Lafayette in 1937. Bill passed away from a brief illness in 1946. On May 4, 1950, Marian married Robert J. Wiley, who passed away in 1981. Marian retired from L. S. Ayres in Lafayette in 1980. Marian was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette, IN, PEO Chapter D, and Chi Omega Sorority. She volunteered for 12 years at the West Lafayette Public Library and was very involved in the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Surviving are a daughter, Judith A. (Charles-Wiley) Ash of Galesville, IL; three sons Robert F. (Charles) Wiley of Carmel, IN, Scott E. Wiley of Alexandria, VA, and Samuel Rothfield of Des Plains IL, fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. A private family burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery in West Lafayette, IN. Memorials may be made to either the Piatt County Nursing Home (1111 N. State Street, Monticello, IL 61856) or the Mahomet United Methodist Church (1302 E. South Mahomet Rd. Mahomet, IL 61853)
