Margareth Irene Shuey, 99, of Stockwell, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

She was born April 4, 1924, in Tippecanoe County, to the late Jacob A. and Eve Louise (Howard) Shuey.

Margareth graduated from Stockwell High School.

Margareth had worked for 44 years at the Stockwell bank. Through all of the name changes she retired in 1992 as Customer Service Supervisor for Bank One. On November 13, 1981 Margareth helped the Indiana State Police catch a suspected bank robber by remembering the license plate number and gave the alleged robber a marked stack of bills. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for helping them solve the case.

She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 5 and Stockwell Community Church.

Margareth enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, Yahtzee and other games.

Surviving are two nieces, Tracey (David) Mason of MI and Carolyn Butts of TX and a nephew, Paul (wife Cathy) Griner of St. Louis, MO.

Margareth was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Virgil Griner as well as three nephews, Perry, Steve and Bruce Griner.

A graveside service will be held at Concord Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2023

Did some of my first banking at the Stockwell State Bank with Margaret and Mary Thomson. I remember the bank robbery. So much excitement. Had a helicopter parking lot across the street from our house as the Indy news stations arrive to cove the news. To think how may changes she had seen throughout the years.
