Margaret T. Abbott-Woerner

Margaret T. Abbott-Woerner, 92, of West Lafayette, formerly of Plymouth, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Westminster Health Care.
She was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Sterling, Ill., to the late Walter and Blanche Thomas.
She graduated from Indiana University with B.S. and M.S. degrees.
Her marriage was to Howard Abbott in 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1980. In 2007 she married Robert Woerner in West Lafayette, and he survives.
She was a first-grade teacher at Washington School in Plymouth, retiring in 1980.
Her memberships included Central Presbyterian Church, PEO, Delta Delta Pi at Eureka College, Tri Kappa and Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, Thomas H. Abbott (wife: Sally) of Chatham, N.J. and Jeff H. Abbott (wife: Donna) of Ft. Wayne, stepsons, David Woerner (wife: Mary Ann) of Nashville, John Woerner (wife: Marsha) of Bradenton, Fla., and Brian Woerner (wife: Cathy) of Morgantown, W.Va.; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 8 stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to a 10:30 a.m. service on Monday at Central Presbyterian Church, Lafayette, Dr. Bill Smutz and Dr. Jeff Cover officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Central Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth or Westminister Village Foundation.

As a resident of Westminster Village for the last year and a half, I have had the joy of getting acquainted with Margaret. Memories of her ready smile, her always warm welcome and her words of kindness will remain with me through the rest of my years. Blessed Be.

Dear Tom Abbott,

Sorry to hear about your Mother recently. It appears that she led a very long and productive life.. I remember when we were kids going to Cub Scout meetings at your house on Pennsylvania St in Plymouth Indiana and how kind and thoughtful your Mother was during those grade school years.

Hopefully we will meet up in Plymouth at the 50th High School reunion this summer. In the meantime know that you are in our thoughts.

Margaret was loved by so many....everywhere she went, people were attracted to her and she taught us all so much...I believe that for those who live in Christ there is never a last farewell. I received the news of your mother&s death via my class (PHS) news letter.

Through the years I have remembered your mother with fond memories. She was a good friend of my mother, Helen Furry. She gave a wedding shower for me and was always interested in what I was doing and what was happening with my family.

She was a very gracious lady with a wonderful smile. You were fortunate to have had her in your lives for such a long time.
