Marcia Lynn Schafer, 57, of Westfield, IN, passed away peacefully at 6:45 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Creasy Springs Health Campus surrounded by her family, after a 15 month battle with Cholangiocarcinoma. She was born June 26, 1957, in Lafayette, IN, to Walter and Patsy Schafer of Lafayette. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and Ivy Tech Community College, completing an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology. Marcia also completed the Certified Surgical First Assistant – Cardiovascular Specialist Certification Program. Marcia was named MVP in 1975 for the Central Catholic Girls Basketball program. When not traveling, Marcia enjoyed Purdue Football games, cooking, and time spent with her family. Surviving along with her parents are brothers Steven Schafer (Kit), Tim Schafer (Natalie), sisters Susan Schafer, and Kathleen Lamie (Gary-deceased). Also surviving are nephews Lee Schafer (Ashley), Mathew Schafer, and Andrew Schafer and one niece Katie Sudbury (Michael). Visitation will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 5-8 pm at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10:30 am, Fr. Eric Underwood officiating. Burial will be at Meadow View Cemetery. Marcia was preceded in death by grandparents Louis and Rose Schafer, Eugene White, and Alice Zipperer.
