M. Faylene “Fay” Beams, 82, of Lafayette, died at 10:17 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Central.
She was born April 14, 1929, in Clarence, Mo., to the late Verle Walter and Letha Cook Walter Freeman. She graduated high school in Baldwin City, Kan.
On Oct. 1, 1946, she married Chester L. Beams in Ottawa, Kan. He died Jan. 15, 2008.
Mrs. Beams was a homemaker and worked for several years at Duncan Meter and Alcoa.
She enjoyed fishing, watching football, reading, crocheting, cooking, gardening and entertaining.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol Middleton (husband: Mike) of Lafayette, Sharon Triplett (companion: Jim Hollingsworth) of Macon, Mo., Linda Nading (husband: Tom) of Oswego, Kan.;l a son, Daryl Beams (companion: Jill Weaver) of Lafayette; a brother, Lester Walter of Clarence, Mo.; and a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Schrader (husband: William) of Macon, Mo.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909, the Rev. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute to the Alzheimers Association.
