Lyda M. Hilt, 100, of Lafayette, died at 11:27 p.m. Wednesday April 27, 2011, at Indiana University Health Arnett.
She was born April 11, 1911, in Sioux Pass, Mont., to the late Walter and Lula Robertson Peterson.
On April 8, 1949, in Lafayette, she married Clinton E. Hilt, and he survives.
She worked as a private duty nurse and later as a nursing supervisor at Home Hospital.
Mrs. Hilt was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and Colburn Home Economics Club where she held various offices. She also had been involved with the local Boy Scouts. Her hobbies included genealogy and started the genealogy library at Fowler House. She also liked to crochet, play games, garden and read.
Surviving along with husband, Clinton E. Hilt of Lafayette, are two sons, Richard C. Hilt (wife: Gertrude “Trudy”) of Indianapolis and Wayne L. Hilt (wife: Mary) of Lafayette; and two sisters, Garna Landgraf of Clearwater, Fla., and Mary Minton of Dallas, Texas.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Catherine Hilt of Bay Saint Lewis, Miss., Becki Hilt of Boulder, Colo., Jacob Hilt of Busan, South Korea, and Adam Hilt of Lafayette. A brother, Leonard Peterson; and a sister, Gladys Schmidt, preceded in death.
