Lloyd Bailey, 83, of Lafayette, IN, died at 12:26 AM Sunday May 31, 2015 at IU Arnett Hospital. He was born on September 19, 1931, in Lafayette, IN to the late James Lester and Vertie M. Owen Bailey.He served in the United States Marine Corp as a Cpl. from November 26, 1951 to October 10, 1953.He attended Shadeland School. On August 15, 1954 he married Norma “June” Connelly in Lafayette at Elston Presbyterian Church. Lloyd retired from Alcoa after 41 and a half years working as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Elston Presbyterian Church for over 70 years serving as an elder and active in all aspects of the church. He was a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club and the Alcoa Retiree Club. Lloyd was a member of American Legion Post 11, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 347 and Moose Lodge 1529. Lloyd loved his church and church family. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and most importantly spending time with his family. Lloyd was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving along with his wife, June Bailey are his daughters Susie Bailey, Cathy (Jeff) Russell, Rebecca Hainje, all of Lafayette. Surviving are sibilings Floyd (Sue) Bailey, Mary Frances Guse and Janet (Mick) Kenner. Grandchildren Nicole (Brett) Russell, Emily (Nick) Ashby, Bethany Hainje, Brooke Hainje and Breann Hainje. Great grandchildren are Mason Gillock and Ensley Ashby and several neices and nephews. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral Service 1:00 PM Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Officiating Pastor Rick Ryan.Preceded in death by his brother Robert Bailey. Those wishing may contribute to the Elston Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
