Linda Kay Engel New, 72, of Lafayette, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at Creasy Springs Health Campus, after a courageous fight with Parkinson’s Disease.
She was born December 11, 1953, in Peru, IN to the late Eldon Leo and Norma Jean (Elder) Engel. Linda was a graduate of Peru High School, Manchester University, and IU Medical Center Indianapolis, earning her master’s degree. On June 11, 1988, she married Terry L. New in Lafayette, and he survives. She worked as a Medical Technologist at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 16 years and Data Reviewer for BASI for 19 years until her retirement on November 30, 2018.
Linda was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was a member if the Flute Trio. She enjoyed reading, going to and watching movies, playing the flute, and traveling. She, Terry, and 9 other family members took a cruise to Alaska and really enjoyed themselves. She also loved animals, especially her dogs.
Along with her husband, Terry, she is survived by her sister, Dawn (Dan) Dock of Fort Worth, TX; 2 grandchildren; 3 nephews; 2 nieces; 4 great-nephews; and 2 great-nieces; and her beloved mini-dachshund, Augie.
She was preceded by her parents, Eldon and Norma Jean Engel; 2 brothers, Billy and Bruce Engel; and her Aunt Shirley Austin.
Memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be given to any of the local Humane Societies, the Lafayette Citizens Band, and the Lafayette Flute Choir.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 North, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
