Kim Logan, 66, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully at University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN on Sunday, January 8, 2023. His death marks the final end of a long and challenging illness, during which Kim showed great strength through moments of both hope and heartbreak. His family and friends will always be inspired by Kim’s bravery and gentle spirit throughout the immense difficulties of liver disease, dialysis, organ transplant, chemotherapy, and more. He was born on October 18, 1956, in Marion, IN to the late Milford Logan, Jr. and Loucille (Logan) Kelly. He graduated from Purdue University in 1979 with a degree in computer science. Kim married the love of his life, Lynda (Smith) Logan, on August 2, 1980, and she survives.
Kim enjoyed collecting trinkets, popping tags at Goodwill, gardening—he loved reviving plants from the clearance section, traveling, listening to an eclectic variety of music and books, spending time with his grandchildren and playing Peppa Pig. He had a big personality and loved to share it with others.
Kim spent his career working for various software companies in research and software program development and retired in 2015. He enjoyed retirement; especially his part time jobs at both Walmart and Menards. He took pride in making unique flowerbeds and filling them with revived plants and flowers.
Surviving with his wife are children Kelsey Logan (Brent Synesael), Paige Logan, Tim Logan and Jasmin Salazar. Grandchildren Madison Hayes, Avery Synesael, Caden Bolden-Salazar, Piper Synesael and A’nora Smith. Kim is also survived by siblings Guy Logan, Robyn (Logan) Todd and Mitch Logan.
Kim was lucky enough to receive a liver and kidney transplant in May 2022 and had hopes for a renewed life. He was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive lymphoma in September 2022 and endured 3 rounds of chemotherapy. The family encourages people to register to be an organ donor as it could save someone’s life.
Kim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Greg Logan, best friend, Bill Johnson, and several extended family members.
