I've been blessed with working with Coop at DPAA. There were times where we were the only ones working so we talked alot about his family, growing up in Indiana, serving, and our jobs. I found that we had alot in common - we did have some weird differences. For example, he liked chewy cookies and the center cuts of the brownies - both which i hate. I told him that I'll always take your crunchy cookies and brownie edges. Some of the IT Terms like scum (SCCM), Fordisc (I won't say what his term was for that but you can imagine), the FIshbowl (our work area) will forever be used here. Whenever he would go on leave or TDY I would always tell him "Catch you on the flipside". Little did I know this would be the last time. I'm gonna miss you playa!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Huge heart, kind spirit, passionate servant leader to our DPAA family. First to welcome me to the IT team, Coop traveled to Germany, stood the watch for Korea Cold War event, and emanated a ray of light and happiness to all. An amazing person who will linger in our hearts.

Since we were 5 years old, I was in your class. Everybody wanted to be on your team when the sides were being picked, for we knew your team would win. Yet, we could not wait for school to be out for the summer. Now our summer dreams are ripped at the seams! What can we do when a mighty tree in our lives has fallen, and we have lost the coolness of his shade, but remember the words of our great teacher?
Walter A Gaines left a message on August 13, 2022:
It is never easy to find the right words to express our feelings when there are no words that can fully capture the depth of what we’re feeling. Kevin, you were a proud son, father, husband, and grandpa. You were my coworker, my supervisor, my friend, and my other brother. Throughout this heartache, I pray we all find relief in your wonderful memories. To Fouzia Coopman and the entire family, you are in my prayers, and I am Wishing you strength for today and hope for tomorrow. You have my deepest condolences.

Coop was an amazing friend, even after I'd moved on he'd still reach out to stay connected and make sure I was ok after sharing a laugh with me. We both have the same type of humor and got along like surfboards and bald heads. I will miss him dearly and all the love to Fouza and the children he was so proud of.

Coop and I started working at DPAA or JPAC at the time just a week apart and quickly became friends, sharing our surfing stories and experiences in the Air Force. As I got to know coop, it was clear that he was a proud father, grandfather. Always sharing stories and pictures of his family. I left DPAA about 5 years ago but stayed in touch through the years, he will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayer are with his family.
Jane Haitsuka left a message on August 11, 2022:
Coop has a personality and voice that fills a room. We always knew when he was on vacation because the office was so quiet! Coop was always honest, straight forward, and never anything other than himself, which means you could talk to him about anything. He would often fill our days with stories, pictures, and videos about his beautiful family. So many funny and heartwarming stories about his children and grandchildren, and picking strawberries with his mom. He was such a proud husband, papa, and grandpa. We are all so blessed to have known such a good man. I will really miss his kindness, his big personality, silly jokes, and dopey laugh. Fouzia, Mr and Mrs Coopman, his brother and sisters, beautiful children and grandchildren--you are all in my prayers.

Kevin was an amazing coworker, someone I could always count on when I required assistance with my computer. His knowledge was invaluable in managing Agency cell phones and network issues. “Coop” was a fellow AF veteran and exemplifies the AF values of service before self and excellence in all we do. I will deeply miss Coop and the beers we occasionally shared. Todd Duyvejonck

Kevin was such a great teammate. He touched everyone in the agency ability to accomplish the mission. He did his job with such professionalism, humility and grace. Even when we thought we had right; Kevin would remind us gracefully why that was not the best solution. Although, I only worked with Coop couple years, he welcome me on team, and ensured I had everything required to do my job. Coop you were truly a great teammate!

Deepest sympathies to the Coopman family. Coop began at JPAC a few months before I did. He was hard to miss because of his upbeat demeanor and indomitable spirit. And he was hard to forget because of his professional competence and "get it fixed" approach. Hearing about his son's taekwondo achievements and sons' military life was a bonus. While DPAA will certainly miss Coop’s many contributions, even more so, we will miss our teammate and friend. God bless Coop and the Coopman Ohana, Kelly McKeague DPAA Director

My sincere condolences to his family. "Coop" was always my go to guy when I was deployed. If it wasn't a phone issue it was my computer. :-) Coop ALWAYS answered the call day or night. He took the time to respond no matter what. I knew Coop professionally since he joined JPAC and DPAA. Always in happy spirits and always there to help. He was a consummate team player and professional. When I would stop in his IT department, I always made a visit to him to see how he was doing. If he was busy or not he ALWAYS took the time to talk with me. He was truly a great guy and I am sure his loss is felt to everyone he had contact with. Its really going to be hard to walk in there and not see him. Going to miss him dearly. Rest in peace my friend. You will never be forgotten.

To Coopman Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time, he will be missed dearly and will be remembered for his work ethic and as a friend. HIs dedication to the DPAA mission and sense of humor in his own special way are memorable. During weekly meetings, we enjoyed passing each other's name as a volunteer for projects on a normal basis (especially if the other was late or not present for the meeting). These moments are precious, he will continue to be with us in spirit through our memories. Aloha, Nathan
