Katherine “Katie” M. Brown

Katherine “Katie” Douglas Brown passed away early Easter morning.  She is survived by her husband, Jim Brown, her step-sons Connor and Colton Brown, her mother Mary McCoy Douglas of Lafayette, and her brother Gregory (Liz) Douglas.  She is also survived by her nephews and nieces Scott Casey Howard, Kelsi Howard (Ian)Hart, Troy Nittler Douglas, and Jacqueline Douglas (Alex) Hill, as well as her very loved great nieces Maci, Audrey and Delaney.   Her cousins, whom she loved dearly, Sandy, Mary, David, Michael, Cheryl, Eric and Tim will miss her tremendously.  She is preceded in death by her father Mick Douglas and her sister Chrissi Douglas Pitts.

She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1995.  She experienced a year as an exchange student in Finland which she loved.  She attended college at Marion in Indianapolis as well as Purdue University.  She truly enjoyed interacting with people and helping, so naturally she mostly found employment in an office setting where she made many friends with customers and colleagues.

She loved laughing and being with friends, family and her cousins’ sharing jokes and memories. She lovingly collected Boxers (her dogs).  She represented Scentsy products as a hobby, and found joy sharing her creative side by crafting cups, mugs and other products she sold or gifted for people to enjoy. Katie was a lighthearted, loving, and caring person whose smile and laugh brightened many rooms.  She genuinely loved people and looked for the good in everyone. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.  Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.  In honor of her memory, please make loving donations to the Humane Society.
