Justin S. Bushong, 34, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at his home. He was born June 23, 1985, in Lafayette to Darin S. (wife Kathleen) Bushong of Ft. Myers, Fl, and Nancy (Clark) McCLimans of Lafayette.

Justin was a veteran of the Army serving two tours in Iraq.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 492 in West Lafayette and enjoyed sports, skydiving, racing motorcycles and cars, reading and classical music.

Justin also was a White Sox fan and avid sports card collector. His marriage was to Lindsey Freitag in Lafayette in 2006.

Surviving along with his parents are his children Joshua S. and Alana N. Bushong of West Lafayette, siblings Amanda L. Bushong of Sarasota, FL, Aaron M. Bushong of Lafayette, Jason W. (Tiphani) Jennings of Lafayette, and Sara B. (Tanner) Keilty of Dorset, VT.

Also surviving are his grandmothers Barbara Ann Bushong of Lafayette, Janet (Cletis) Pelfree of Lafayette, and Pamela D. (Ernest) Jenkinson of Lafayette, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents William D. Bushong, Robert L. Clark, Reynolds and Helen Weber.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the time of the memoiral service at 3:00 pm on Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.

Bushy is one of the best men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I knew him and I would be brothers the first day I stepped foot in A Co 1/14. He welcomed me by assisting some of the other guys in making sure I was getting my exercise. My first 12 mile with the platoon he made it his personal goal to make sure I finished with the group. So many memories we made in such a short time and I will cherish every one. Once you see the desert with someone they are family forever. Bushong is family and I will miss him. My deepest condolences to his Kids Josh and Alana, I know their grown enough to know now, but kids your daddy was a great man. My heart goes out! Love.

My deepest condolences. I serve red with Justin in Hawaii and we deployed together in 2010-2011. He was such a great soldier and leader. He will be deeply missed.

Justin and I were roommates when we deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq back in 2010. He was a heck of a good shot and I was there to congratulate him when he graduated US Army Sniper School in Hawaii. We fought together, we fought each other. We ate together, we rode in the same truck together. We laughed together, and we exchanged the same blood, sweat and tears glance when things went things went bad. He was a good man.
