Judith M. Buman, 81, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.  She was born July 18, 1941, in Monon, to the late Glen and Lucille (Williams) Newbold.

Judie graduated from Monon High School and Indiana State University.  On July 31, 1967, she married Clarence “Henry” Buman in Monon, and he preceded her in death on December 28, 1993.

Judie taught at Oakland School for many years and then worked at L.S. Ayers until retirement.  She was a member of Order Eastern Star and enjoyed playing cards, baseball and attending her granddaughter’s softball games.

Surviving is her son Clarence “Chip” (Dawn) Buman of Peru, grandchildren Blayklee Buman and Peyton Powell-Buman.  Judie was preceded in death by her son Cale “Corky” Buman and siblings Martha Coffman and Glen Newbold.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.  Service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel.  Interment will be at West Point Cemetery in West Point, IN.  Memorial contributions may be made to Almost Home Humane Society in Judie’s memory.

My condolences to all of Judie’s family. Judie was one of my favorites at Oakland. She was a very good teacher and subbed in my classroom many times throughout the years, including during my maternity leave. Judie could tell a good story causing much laughter, and funny things just seemed to happen to Judie. One time we were in a hot tub in Florida when a rather strange man joined us, looking for his lost room key. While searching the bottom of the hot tub, he grabbed Judie’s toe. Judie’s reaction made us laugh continually that night! May your memories of Judie bring smiles to you during this sad time.

Our heartfelt condolences to all of Judies family. We feel blessed to have know Judie and to have had such wonderful times with her in Bradenton, here in Guernsey and in France. Life was never dull when Judie was around! Her generosity and kindness were an inspiration to us all. She will always be in our memories and our hearts.
