Joseph Dean Balser, 58, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 9, 1967, in Lafayette, Indiana, Joe lived a life marked by hard work, adventure, faith and loyalty. Joe graduated from Seeger High School and served in the Army from 1986 to 1993.
On June 6, 1987, he married Teresa G. Boston in Louisville, KY and she survives. Joseph worked at Caterpillar for over 25 years. He was a lifetime member of EAA, belonging to chapter #256. Racing was one of his greatest passions, and over the years, he raced with ASA, ARCA, I-Car Modifieds and attended Gathering Point Church. Joe enjoyed flying, racing, motorcycle riding and farming.
Surviving along with his wife is his mother Mary Lynn Balser of Wiiliamsport, children Amanda R. (husband Kyle Trapp) Boston of Lafayette, Christopher Dean (wife Penni Balser) Balser of Dayton, grandchildren Eva Jo Wynne of Lebanon and Dean O. Neal of Lafayette. Also surviving is his sister Christina (Balser) Market of Rensselaer.
The race is finished, the skies are open and Joe is finally at peace.
Visitation will be from 5:30 pm until the time of the service at 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.
