John Thomas Maxwell, 77, of West Lafayette, formerly of Michigan, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Digby Place in Lafayette.
He was born April 18, 1945, in Cheboygan, MI, to the late Melvin and Gertrude Maxwell. He was a 1963 graduate of Cheboygan High School and continued his education at Northern Michigan University, graduating in 1967 with a degree in Education. John worked as a school Principal for many years. He was an active member in the community, huge supporter of school athletics, fan of the Michigan Wolverines, and enjoyed much of his free time golfing.
He is survived by his 3 children, Pauline Maxwell-Hanko of West Lafayette, Bryce Maxwell of Lake Oswego, OR and Sharie (Jason) Martina of Nolensville, TN; 6 grandchildren, Courtney Hanko, Trent Hanko, Carson Hanko, Jarrett Hanko, Elise Martina, and Jocelyn Martina, 3 sisters, Elaine (Curt) Day of Bayonet, FL, Jane (Ron) Reynolds of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Rosemary (Todd) Roberson of Cheboygan, MI; and a brother, Samuel (Patty) Maxwell of Lakewood, CO.
John was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Gertrude Maxwell.
