Dear Mrs. Baker,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at the loss of your dear husband. Dr. Baker was one of my professors when I went through Purdue (Class of 1975). Everyone loved him. He was kind, patient, and concerned about the students in his care. What a wonderful legacy he has left in all of the lives he has touched, and it was my honor to be one of those lives.
With deepest sympathies,
Kay Boyd

I am really saddened by the news of the passing away of a trusted colleague, an honorable person, and simply a fine gentleman, professor Baker. I was away on a business trip to Africa when he passed away, and did not know. I shared lots of good times with Professor Baker and his wife. We often went to lunches and hosted international visitors. I treasure many many fond memories. I visited him in his home several times and enjoyed talking to him and his lovely wife. He even taught me how to grow and take care of my tomatoes and enjoy the fried green ones!
Professor Baker one of the pioneers in abmosal displacemet surgery and helped many dairy cows around the world. His international engagement helped many students and veterinarians around the world. He continued to help with our Purdue&s Veterinary Medicine International programs after his retirement.
John will be missed by many friends and colleagues
May his soul rest in eternal peace. May his loved ones have the wisdom to understand and the patience to endure his departure and absence. I love you, John!
