Dave Downey left a message on August 12, 2020:
My sympathies and condolence to John’s family and friends. While I have not had contact with John for many years, I spent a lot of time with John in the 1970s when he helped me by writing software programs for computer management simulations that I used in educational programs for many years. It was a powerful learning tool that we used to educate, quite literally, thousands of AgriBusiness people in the USA, Canada, and Australia for many years. But more importantly, I came to know John as a very intelligent, thorough, and concise person. He was always warm, caring, dependable and very pleasant to be with. I always considered John as a good friend and lament that we had not connected for many years. But I thought of John often and I am saddened to learn of his passing. I can only imagine your feelings of loss and wish you the blessing of God’s strength in this time of mourning. Respectfully, Dave Downey Professor Emeritus, Purdue
