John Robert Bagwell

John Robert Bagwell age 75 of San Diego, California passed away peacefully on Monday April 29, 2024 with his loving son Jarrod by his side at Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital.

John was born to Samual and Nellie Bagwell in Pennsylvania on June 13, 1948. As a teenager in California he enjoyed riding motorcycles, surfing on long-boards and rebuilding Model A Fords.
After John graduated from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, California in 1966 He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt and completed his education by obtaining a law degree. John married his high school sweetheart Judith Ann Hammer after high school and had five sons; John Robert Bagwell Jr., Shawn Bagwell, Jarrod Woodson Bagwell, Justin Erik Bagwell, and Jordan Thomas Bagwell. John was a decades long multiple business owner of Pro-Tec Restoration and Bagwell Roofing in Southern California.

He continued to travel extensively as an adult to Mexico, Madrid, Amsterdam, China, Japan and Thailand. He enjoyed golfing, watching war movies and loved sailing his boat in San Diego. One of his favorite places to hang out was a little place called The Shakespeare Pub.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Samual Woodson Bagwell and Nellie Ann Bagwell; 3 sons, John Robert Bagwell, Shawn Bagwell, Justin Erik Bagwell; a niece, Nicole Jarke; and a grandson, Jaiden Bagwell.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Jarrod Woodson Bagwell and Jordan Thomas Bagwell; 3 brothers, Robert Steven Bagwell, Victor Bagwell, and Samual Woodson Bagwell; and sister, Susan (Bagwell) Brezina; 5 grandchildren, Alamea Bagwell, Kylie Bagwell, Jacob Bagwell, Hunter Bagwell, and Jaxxson Bagwell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
