Your absence in this world will be missed not only by your family/relatives. The countless number of people who was able to got the pleasure to meet you - your students, the guest of SMPT and countless others who were the recipient of your loving and generous personality. It's a great honor to be a part of your life. Go fly with the Angels as the Beloved welcomes you to His kingdom. You bring with you our love as you fly high, leaving us with fond memories created with you in our lives. Sending my love and tight hugs to your bereaved family, Go with God, Papa John!

Accept our deepest sympathies. Mr. Findley had an effect on many lives that is both unmeasurable and unknown. When I texted my brother, Roger, that we lost our favorite 6th grade teacher, he responded, "loved him."
Dr. Norman D. Long left a message on March 22, 2024:
March 21, 2024 Dear Shawn, Missi, and families… Please accept our heartfelt sympathy in the painful and untimely loss of your beloved father, father-in-law, and grandfather. May you all continue to find comfort and hope from our thoughts, prayers, and reassurances that so many others care and remember you in your loss and grief. Although words from friends can’t take away the sadness you have in your heart or ease the loneliness that comes when loved ones have parted. Our trust is that you will find that inner strength to continue as a tribute to his great memories with each of you. Og Mandino, the famous author wrote, “So each of us in our own way, endures our loss, but cherishes the memories. Just as it should be.” However, when one’s heart is frozen in shock from the loss of a loved one, it is family and friends who share their expressions of compassion and friendship which help to sustain us and soften the painful grieving process. We deeply regret seeing you lose such a precious loved one. We mourn the loss for you and will continue to celebrate life in John’s memory… Nonetheless, our thoughts and our prayers are with you. We hope our message will continue to bring you some measure of comfort. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.” May peace replace your heartache and bountiful warm memories remain. In closing, “The nicest place to be is in someone’s thoughts. The safest place to be is in someone’s prayers. And the best place to be is in God’s hands.” With kindest regards…God Bless... Cay and Norm
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

My Parents were Joe & Viola Mabbitt, Sheldon, Illinois. They took us kids to Johhny Square Dances all the time, at Remington, Indiana. His picture looked familiar, he had not changed much. He was a terrific Square Dance "caller". My dad, Joe;s brother Max & Buela Mabbitt went to the dances too. He was lucky to be married for 70 years. Sounds like he had a wonderful life. Glad they enjoyed traveling on cruises. Our deepest of sympathy. Crys (Mabbitt) & Wayne Trotter Downs, Illinois.

I will miss you John! Your quick wit, infectious smile, the twinkle in your eye, funny Irish toasts and the impromptu songs that you sang to fit into the conversation are just a few of things that come to mind. Most of all, you showed all of us how to share love. You took my wife, Debbie, under your wings during a very difficult time in her life. I know Jesus is proud of you!
