John C. Chambers, 74, of Thorntown, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born April 25, 1949, in Jackson, MS to the late William R. and Wesley James (Hall) Chambers. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War from 1970-1977. On October 2, 2014, he married Linda L. Grolo.
John worked as a Computer Operating Systems while serving in the Army. Following his honorable discharge, he continued that career for the Deptartment of Defense for many years. John enjoyed mowing, fishing, cooking, and outdorr grilling.
Along with his wife, Linda L. Chambers of Thorntown; he is survived by 7 children, Jacque (Elias) Artalejo and Jeffrey Chambers, both of TX, Kayla (Chris) Salvoldi of Lafayette, Missy (John) Marx of Burnettsville, Bruce (Belinda Fulks) Certain, Stacy Certain, and Tina Certain, all of Lafayette and Jarred Thomas of Attica ; 2 sisters, Helen Buckley of TX and Billy Lee (Don) Elrick of CO; 21 grandchildren, Alex, Sam, Kane, Zahne, Jaxson, Kymberly, Kassandra, Jason, Austin, Joshua, Bruce, Courtney, Whitney, Jesse, Makinzie, Dalton, Kaydence, Junior, Elizabeth, Philip, Ashley, Jadelyn, Zach, Chelsea, and Mary; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
We will all miss the little sayings he had for his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
John was preceded in death by his sister, Wesley Hall Chambers.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, June 5, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Funeral Service at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette with Rev. Joseph Park Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery, Tippecanoe County, IN.
Memorial contributions in John’s name may be given to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
