Dr. John Alexander Blair, 81, of Brentwood, TN formly of West Lafayette, IN died on Monday, July 14 at Somerfield Health Center. John was born on September 4, 1932 in Springfield, IL to the late John W. and Elizabeth A. Blair. He graduated from Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL. In 1954 John graduated from Wabash College and earned his DVM degree from Michigan State University in 1962. On December 28, 1957, he married Shirley Ann Krug, she died in 2009. Dr. Blair joyfully practiced veterinary medicine for 42 years, retiring in 1999. John enjoyed nature, photography, wood carving and birding, but his true passion was taking care of animals. Doc's gentle spirit and kindness were felt by many. He is survived by three daughters, Carmi B. Swanson (Steve) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Lisa B. Banker (Bill) of West Lafayette, IN and Adele B. Hardin (Philip) of Brentwood, TN. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren. Friends will be received 2 hours prior to a 3:00pm Memorial Service on Friday, July 18 at Soller Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West.
