Jodie Christine Barry, 34, of Lafayette, passed away on May 13, 2025, at her home.
Born on August 5, 1990, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Melvin E. Barry and Bridget E. Cadwallader. Jodie attended William H. Harrison High School before transferring and graduating from Apostolic Faith Christian Academy.
Jodie loved being outdoors—whether at the creek or out kayaking, she found stillness, peace, and serenity surrounded by nature. She had a deep love for poetry, reading, writing, roses, and her signature bandanas. She was a vibrant spirit, known for her creativity, kindness, and her deep affection for family and those close to her. Her laugh and smile would light up a room the moment she walked in.
Above all, she loved her daughters fiercely—Layla Jo and Sophia Rose—and often wrote them poetry expressing her endless love. She shared a deep and loving bond with her older sister Kelly (Kel), her younger sister Elisha (Lishy), and her baby brother Lucas (Bubba). The unconditional love and admiration she held for her mother, Bridget (Mama), was untouchable.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Layla and Sophia; her mother and stepfather, Bridget E. and Ed Cadwallader; her siblings, Kelly (Jeremy), Elisha, and Lucas; nieces Chloe and Brooklyn, and nephew Carson, as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Eugene Barry.
Memorial contributions in Jodie’s name may be given to NAMI, PO Box 49104 Baltimore, MD 21297 or online at www.nami.org.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
A private family service will be held.
“She loved the creek, the wild roses, the air, and the people who made her laugh, and she danced, she was now free.”
