Joan D. Block, 89, of Lafayette formerly of LaPorte, died Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Anthony Health Care. She was born April 16, 1926, in LaPorte to the late Frank and Nora Dostojewski. On June 6, 1953 she married Stanley Block in LaPorte and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1994. Joan worked at Allis Chalmers in LaPorte for 35 years and was retired. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Eagles, PNA and PRCU. Surviving is her daughter Adrienne B. Buchanan (Spencer) of Lafayette, grandchildren Dylan and Kyndel Buchanan, God Daughter Donna Cochran of LaPorte and special friends Carlena Songer of LaPorte and Rose Ford of Lafayette. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Fr. Timothy Alkire officiating. Graveside service will be at 1:30 PM (Eastern) 12:30 PM (Central) on Friday at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte. Those wishing may contribute to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
