Jewell D. McKee

JEWELL DEAN (ALLEN) McKEE went to live in the house of the Lord Jesus Christ at 5:45 on June 17, 2011
She was the daughter of Corley and Stella Belle (Word) Allen and was born in Lafayette, Tennessee on July 23, 1924.
She married Robert E. McKee on March 26, 1960 and for the past 51 years was a devoted farm wife. She spent her younger years working in a car factory, shoe factory and as a waitress. She served as Union Twp. Trustee, Twp. Deputy Assessor and Twp. Clerk. Jewell belonged to the local Home Economics Club, Porkettes, Christian Womens Club and was involved in many community and church activities.
Surviving with her husband are one son and three daughters: Ronnie (Polly) Jones, Burlington; Sherron (Michael) Myers, Lafayette; Glenna Nevitt, Crawfordsville; and Melinda (Philip) Gillespie, Bernardsville, NJ; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are sister, Mag Meador, Indianapolis; brother Bill Allen, Lebanon, TN; sister-in-law Dean Allen, Indianapolis; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
Her family and friends were blessed with the presence of her in their lives, and she will forever be remembered, loved and missed. We are comforted that by the Grace of God we will someday be joined with her once again.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel , 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, IN. Allan Goff will officiate. Following the service, Jewell will be laid to rest in Farmers Institute Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association or an organization of your choice.
