He was born April 5, 1963, in Monticello, IN, to Kenneth and Joyce (Kellenberger) Summers of West Lafayette, IN.
Jerry attended Benton Central High School and earned his Associate Degree from Vincennes University in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management. He was the manager of Shoney’s when they were located in Lafayette, IN.
Jerry also obtained his cosmetology license from Rudae’s Beauty College in Lafayette and enjoyed doing the hair of family and friends. A true people person, Jerry also enjoyed selling real estate while living in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He retained his membership in the Lafayette Seventh-day Adventist Church, even while living in Florida and later Alabama. While in Ft. Lauderdale, Jerry especially enjoyed baking beautiful cakes of all kinds and bringing them to fellowship luncheons at church. Everyone loved his cakes and looked forward to seeing what different kind he would bring each week.
Jerry was a true people person with a contagious laugh that those who knew him will remember. He had a great love for animals and was especially close to his beloved pets, Armani and Molly, who brought him much companionship and happiness. He also loved being outdoors, and in his final days, he spent time gardening in his backyard, doing something he truly enjoyed.
Above all, Jerry was immensely proud of his son, Chad, whom he often said was one of his greatest accomplishments.
Surviving with his parents is his son, Chad (Meagan) Summers of Port St. Lucie, FL; two brothers, Ron (Kathy) Summers of Emmett, ID, and Steven T. Summers of Mulberry, IN; and three nephews, Steve C. Summers of West Lafayette, IN, Cameron Summers of Portland, OR, and Clayton Summers of Logan, UT.
Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Summers.
