Jeremy Kye Gibson, 26, of Lafayette, died July 6, 2011 in West Lafayette.
He was born July 3, 1985, in Lafayette, graduated from McCutcheon High School and attended Ivy Tech State College. He was the son of Mary Warbritton and stepfather James and Bruce D. Gibson (partner: Missy Kirts), all of Lafayette.
Mr. Gibson worked at Blue Fin Bistro in Lafayette and had attended Concord Community Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his sons, family and friends.
Surviving are his sons, Dakota Kye Gibson and Riley Ayden Gibson, both of Lafayette; a brother, Joseph B. Gibson (wife: Megan), West Lafayette; sisters, Jennifer Gibson-Sargent (husband: David Sargent Jr.), Stockwell, Jessica Gibson and Shyan Gibson, both of Crawfordsville, Jessica Sue Warbritton and Rhonda K. Warbritton, both of Lafayette, Crystal Marsh (husband: Jeff) of Dayton; a half brother, John Byrd, Rockville; and a stepbrother, Tyler Kirts, Crawfordsville.
Also surviving with his mother and loving stepfather are his grandmother, Lola Jeanie Rector, Florida.; aunts, Connie Morgan (partner: Dave Lindenmuth), Arizona, Vicki Taylor (husband: Bill) and Ruth Alford (husband: Jamie), both of Lafayette, Peggy Hensley and Diana Cunningham, both of Florida; uncles, Roger Long (wife: Linda), Jerry Gibson (wife: Jamie) and Kenny Rector (wife: Pam), all of Lafayette, Phil Gibson (wife: Karen), Crawfordsville; 8 nieces, 6 nephews and numerous loving cousins.
Jeremy had a lust for life compared to no other. His greatest pleasure was spending time spoiling and loving his two sons. Every morning Jeremy would start his day with his boys by dancing to his favorite Blind Melon songs and watching them laugh.
Other past times Jeremy enjoyed doing were fishing, camping, tubing, lighting fireworks and spending time with his childhood friends at the the Wild Cat and Clay Mountain. Jeremy was also a very talented Abstract Artist.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thusday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Private burial at Wyandotte Cemetery. Preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph and Ruth Long and a cousin Christopher Taylor.
Those wishing may contribute to the memorial fund that has been set up for his boys Dakota and Riley Gibson. Envolopes will be available at the funeral home.

I am so very sorry for your loss. All of Jeremy&s family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope justice will be served for Jeremy.

WE KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO LOSE A LOVED ONE AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE AS OUR SON JESSE DIED TWO YEARS AGO AT THE AGE OF 21. HE DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND YOUR LOSE , I AM SURE WAS MUCH HARDER, DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN YOUR TIME OF SORROW.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Jeremy as a student of mine at McCutcheon. He was so full of spirit. Later I met him again as he was working with the newspapers locally. He was so glad to see me because he was proud to show me that he was doing well. I was proud of him, too because he had worried me. He apologized for any misbehavior MIGHT have done. That meant a lot. He was so grown up and trying hard to do right. Hopefully your last memories of Jeremy will be ones like mine that remind you to be proud of knowing him.

I am so sorry this happened. I was a friend of Jeremy all through our teenage years. We went to school together and hung out outside of school all the time. I hadn&t spoken to him a couple years, the last time was when he had just started the job selling newspaper subscriptions. He was just as great of a guy then as he had always been. I really regret not having kept in closer touch. Of the many people I&ve met in my life, he is one of those with the biggest hearts. We both met many people that only had themselves in mind, but he always had a very good sense of morals. When he could help somebody, he would. I once was getting rid of a puppy and he dropped everything to come get that puppy and take it into his home. As I visited him after that, seeing the puppy in great health and the way he loved it, that is the image that sticks out in my mind. A playful and warm attitude. And he was very open with his feelings, not afraid to show emotion, not concerned with trying to look &cool& but rather with what is right and wrong - a very respectable way to be. It seems so surreal that this could happen to him. I just can&t fathom how anybody could do this. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and all others that have to feel this pain. He will live on through us, in the way he touched our lives.

I lived right next to Jeremy.... before I moved. I moved a month ago. My father is still in the apartment I resided in. It is a tragedy for your family that you are going through this. I am so sorry for your loss and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. My love to his two little boys.
