Jean E Carr, 90, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at her home.
She was born September 5, 1930, in Lafayette to the late Charles and Lillian (Bennett) Merkel. Jean graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1948. Jean was a School Bus Driver for Tippecanoe County School Corporation for 20 years. She volunteered at the Salvation Army and St. James Food Pantry.
Jean was an avid bowler and was inducted to the WIBC Hall of Fame. She enjoyed boating and spending time at Lake Shafer. Jean was a doting grandmother and enjoyed many acitivites with her grandchildren.
Surviving is her partner of 45 years David E. Silvers, children John C. (Maria) Zeigler of Battle Ground, Kimberly S. (Jill) Handy of Oxford, Janie L (Clint) Taylor of Lafayette, Brian N. (Sara) Silvers of Byron, IL, Thomas E (Amy) Silvers of Noblesville, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her Son Gary L. Carr; a brother Alfred D. Merkel; and a granddaughter, Korin Hasser.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service will be at 1:30 pm on Friday, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Envoy Audrey Schneider officiating. Interment will be at Isley Cemetery in Lafayette.
Current Covid-19 precautions will be observed along with social distancing and current government guidelines. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
