Janet Rust McCallum, 90, of West Lafayette passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. She was born December 9, 1926 in Hinsdale, IL.
Jan McCallum, fondly called Aunt Jan by her family, was known for her smart wit and no-nonsense attitude. She was ahead of her time when it came to being independent. She met and married her college sweetheart, William McCallum at Western Michigan University. They were longtime residents of West Lafayette, where Bill served as the President of the Lafayette Bank & Trust.
Jan was employed by the Purdue Athletic Department. Since she and Bill were big supporters of the Boilermakers, this was a dream job for her. Jan and Bill enjoyed traveling, socializing with family and friends, attending Purdue athletic events and of course their special cat friends. Sadly, Jan's beloved husband passed thirty years ago but she did not remarry.
She is survived by nieces Lucy Rust, Ruth Ann McCallum, Kathy Muckenhirn, nephew John Havel (Jan) , great nephews Stephen McCallum Havel , John J Havel and Ross McCallum and several great- great nephews and nieces. Aunt Jan will be greatly missed.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
