Janet R. Handy, 89, of Wall, NJ, formerly of Lafayette, IN, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Sunnyside Manor in Wall, NJ.

She was born February 25, 1933, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Harold and Inez Masterson.  She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and attended Purdue University for one year.

She married Delbert Handy on June 30, 1956, at Congress Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette.  He preceded her in death on May 22, 2009.

Janet began her career at Rostone Corporation where she met Delbert and they later married.  She then worked for the Lafayette School Corporation.  She and Delbert moved to Virginia and then North Carolina and they returned to Lafayette where she worked for and retired from the Tippecanoe County Health Department.

She was a lifetime member of Congress Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette.  She was an active church volunteer and participated in the Circle of Joy and the Morning Circle.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hope Chapter #5 and was very active with Tippecanoe County Republican Party.  She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann L. Handy (husband:  Kenneth W. Barton) of Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ.  Her son, James H. Handy passed away in 2002.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 30^th, 2022, at Congress Street United Methodist Church, 2010 Congress Street, Lafayette, IN.  Funeral Service, led by Pastor Ryan Traeger will follow the visitation at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow Funeral Service at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
