Jane Marie Strasser (Holst), 51, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully with family surrounding her Friday, November 13, 2015 after a four year battle with melanoma. Jane was born on February 22, 1964 in Lafayette, IN to the late John Holst Sr. and Anne Lencke Butzlaff. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1982. She married her husband of 32 years, Marty Strasser, in 1983 in Delphi and was blessed with two children: Chad Strasser of Brownsburg and Jenny Strasser King (Tyler) of Indianapolis. Jane and Marty owned Delphi Greenhouses and Valley Flowers in Lafayette for 20 years, before opening McCarty Motors in Lafayette in 2002. Jane loved to travel and Las Vegas was always her favorite destination. She was an avid swimmer and loved supporting music and athletic programs that her kids were a part of. She was a big Colts fan and loved attending the Sunday games with Marty. Her biggest enjoyment was being a mother, making it to all of her kid's events, and spending time with her family. Jane leaves behind her mother Anne Butzlaff; mother-in-law Marjorie Strasser; stepmother Becky Holst; brother John Holst (Christi) of Jacksonville, FL and sisters Jill Holst Storms (Derrick) of Avon, IN and Danielle Butzlaff Combs (Jason) of Bloomington, IN. Jane was especially close to her nieces and nephews: Brooke, Bailee, Dylan, Duncan and Connor. She shared a special bond with her aunt and uncle, Sam and Bobbie Lencke, their children Scott Lencke (Catherine) and Cindy Muzzi (Philip), and grandsons Caleb, Joshua, and our beautiful Asher. She was also close with her in-laws, Randy and Denise Strasser, Brenda Moore, Tim and Kathy Strasser, Rob and Robin Strasser, Sue and Scott Hartman, Jodi Rhoades and nieces and nephews including, Josh Strasser, Rick Strasser, Kristen Strasser, Timothy Herod, Kyle Moore, Eric Herod, David Strasser, Sara Strasser, Hannah Strasser, Ryan Strasser, Kari Burns, Shannon Petorak, Zachary Condon, and Grace Rhoades. She was preceded in death by her father John Holst Sr. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service will be 10:30 Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Pastor Mike Vauters officiating. Interment will be at Meadow View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Melanoma Foundation in Jane's memory.
