James R. Bruchert, 86, of West Lafayette, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born November 26, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to the late James and Esther (Nelson) Bruchert.

James served and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force from 1957-1960.

On November 29, 1959, he married Mary Benoit in Newfoundland, Canada. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2019.

James worked as a Laborer for several different places over the years.

He was a member of the American Legion, and Knights of Columbus and enjoyed Woodworking.

Surviving is a son, William (Mary) Bruchert of West Lafayette, IN. A brother, William Bruchert of Florida, as well as ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Bruchert and Jimmy Bruchert.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, IN.
