James “Jim” R. Minniear, 70, of Lafayette died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in his home after a lengthy battle with Leukemia. He was born June 1, 1944, in Abilene,TX, to Rosemary Ferguson Minniear of Lafayette and the late Homer Minniear. Jim graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and attended Purdue University. On June 12, 1965 he married Carolyn Cain in Lafayette and she survives. Jim was Superintendent of Maintenance at Fairfield Manufacturing and had worked there for 30 years. He and his son are co-owners of Straight Lines Inc. since 1989. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge 492, Moose Lodge, Eagles, Son's of the American Legion, Ravines and Edwood Glen golf courses. He was an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed golf, the breakfast round table at the Tick Tock and spending time with his family and granddaughters. Surviving with his wife are his children Alan J. Minniear (Fiance Gia Bonaguro), Angie S. Minniear, grandchildren Macie and Sydnie Minniear all of Lafayette. Also surviving are his sisters Patricia Kamp (Bill) of Houston, TX and Janis Stevens (Bruce) of LaPorte. Jim was preceded in death by brothers Terry Lee and Timothy Paul Minniear. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Fr. Clayton Thompson officiating. Entombment will at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute in Jim's memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Larry Cripe and his staff at Simon Cancer Center and the Doctors and Nurses from the IU Medical Center Critical Care Unit in Indianapolis. A special thanks to Guardian Angels Hospice and to all friends of the family for your loving support.
