Jim passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Jim worked for General Motors in Marion for 33 years, retiring in 2002. Jim also loved his job working as a school crossing guard for the elementary school in his community. Jim was an avid Cubs and NASCAR fan; his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. He also loved Purdue sports. Jim loved watching his grandkids play sports. He was a self-accredited weatherman and loved making sure his family knew what the weather would be for the week, even those that lived out of state. Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deb Longfellow. Also, by his sons David Longfellow (wife Gretchen M) and Robert Longfellow (fiancé Kelly Stricker). Jim had several grandchildren of whom he loved and was very proud of- Skyler, Hannah, Emily, Beau, Tegan, Lillie, Jaryn and Kasin.
Visitation will be from 3-6pm, on Monday February 28th at Calvary Church located at 310 Kalberer Rd, West Lafayette, Indiana 47906. The family plans to have a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you can make donations to the Frontier Jr/Sr High School athletic department.
