James Leon Pruitt of Lafayette, Indiana passed away in his home at 1:34am Sunday, October 2, 2016.
He was born September 23, 1947 in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Paul C. and Evelyn I. (Smith) Pruitt. Jim attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and graduated in 1965. After high school Jim married Karen Seley on July 23, 1966 and she survives. Jim worked at Dave Silver Citco gas station, Fairfield Manufacturing, Public Service and began his career at Eli Lilly & Co. on May 4, 1970 before retiring on May 30, 2003. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, golfing, working in his yard, and watching Purdue football and basketball while always hoping for one more victory! Surviving along with his wife, are their three children, daughter Tracie Woodard (husband Earnie) of Georgetown, Kentucky; son, Scott Pruitt of Lafayette, Indiana; daughter Charitie Pruitt of Port Huron, Michigan and two granddaughters Sydney and Nicole Woodard. Also surviving are Jim’s brothers, Donn (wife Mickey) Pruitt, Tom (wife Carol) Pruitt, and sisters Bobetta Balser (husband Bill), Jackie Crabtree (husband Kenny). Jim was a great provider for his family, he was a loving caring husband, Dad, and Papa. We will Love and Miss you! Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel followed by services at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
