James Leo Haggerty

James Haggerty, 63, of Oxford passed away suddenly, in his home, on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Born October 28, 1962, in Simi Valley, California to the late Leo James Gervais and Sherry Haggerty. He was a graduate of Simi Valley High School. He made a carrier in maintenance for Purdue Research Foundation, and Kirby Realty while raising a loving family, and retiring in 2019 due to injury.

Growing up in California, surfing and scuba diving, he had a love for the outdoors, spending his free time riding his motorcycle and boating. James was a jack of all trades, and the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger in need. His goofy and light-hearted nature, always brightening your day, and touching the hearts of all who knew him.

James is survived by his wife, Prudence (Walker) Haggerty; his daughters, Sara Northern and Ashley Haggerty (Mark Castle); Step-children, Sara Clark, Matthew Clark, and William Clark; his grandchildren, Chloe Thomas, Maddilyn Castle, Matthew Castle, Mark Oliver Castle, and Mae Northern; Siblings, Denise Novellli, Dean Haggerty, Ann Gervais, Katie Schaeffer, Tracy Sibling, and Wayne Gervais; and step-mother, Fran Gervais.

Preceded in death by his mother, Sherry Haggerty; step-father, Robert Haggerty; father, Leo James Gervais; and son-in-law, John Northern.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Monday, May 18, 2026, at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twykenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
