James H. Woody, Jr., 69 of Lafayette, died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital surrounded by family and friends. After a short but difficult illness, his passing was peaceful and he is now with his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Woody, Sr., and Della Spenard Woody Schuster. 
Jim married the love of his life, Patricia Higbee on September 21, 1968. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2008. He attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and went to work for Fairfield Manufacturing, retiring in 2000 after having worked there for over 37 years. 
Surviving are a brother, Jon L. Woody (Denise) of Indianapolis, and a sister, Janis K. Zewari (Said Wahid) of Columbia, Maryland. He was loved and adored by nephews Michael and Thomas Woody, nieces Michelle Wood, Sheila Lynard, and Laura Holt, and grand-nephews and nieces, Alex and Katie Wood, Andrew, Matthew, and Steven Lynard, Jack Woody, and Tyson, Quinn, and Sailor Holt. He was also loved by Patricia’s extended family including Brad Letson, Mary Strawsma, Margaret Ebbeler, Darrell Higbee, Thomas Higbee, Sandra Patterson, and her many nieces and nephews. 
Jim was a member of Heartland Community Church and supported many ministries and charitable organizations, and he was an Indiana Organ Donor participant. His hobbies included bowling, camping, fishing, and cooking. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook.
