James E. Sovern,71, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Rosewalk Village. He was born October 30, 1942, in Lafayette to the late Paul and Lois Cox Sovern. Jim served in the United States Air Force from August 12, 1966 to March 2, 1970. He received his BA and MA from Purdue University. James was a teacher at Julia Test Middle School in Richmond for over 30 years retiring in 2002. He had previously taught at Tung Hai University in Taichung, Taiwan and also enjoyed traveling. Surviving is his brother Jack E Sovern (Debby) of Plano, TX, nieces Paige E. Sovern of Plano, TX, Brittney L Sovern of Dallas, TX and a cousin Ellen C. Pruitt of Morganton, NC. Private graveside service will be at Springvale Cemetery.
