JC Cox, 87, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at his residence. He formerly lived in Lafayette.
Born July 19, 1923, in Tennessee, he was raised in East Prairie, Mo.
He was the son of the late Carlton “C.C.” and Lottie Mae Cox.
On Aug. 7, 1941 he married Louise Smith. She died in 2002. They owned and operated Cox Trucking Co. for over 40 years.
Mr. Cox attended Church By the Sea in Medera Beach, Fla., and was a veteran of the Navy. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting small game. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling in his motor home and attending family reunions. He was an avid ballroom and line dancer until his death.
Surviving are a son, James Cox (wife: Linda) of Otterbein; two daughters, Estelle Middleton (husband: David) of Romney and Joyce Henson (husband: Donald) of Lafayette; and a brother Lester Paul Cox of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Jami Lyn Weber (husband: Blake) of Oregon, their children Nathan James and Rylee Lorene Weber; Staci Lee Rice (husband: Thomas) of West Lafayette, their children Lynlee Morgan and Kendall Hope Rice; Scott Middleton (wife: Stephanie) of Romney, their children Kassandra, Chyenne and Marissa Middleton; Jodi Reece (fiancé: Josh Hess) of Lafayette, her child Cody Reece; and Leslie Mahammad (husband: Ahmad) of Hawaii, their child Brittany Jessee and his companion, Susan Daughtery of Florida.
Soller-Baker has been entrusted with the final care and arrangements at their Lafayette Chapel at 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, with the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Pastor?s Chester Martin and David Wilson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens.
