Howard E. Lasley, 74, of Lafayette, died at 9:02 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the Indiana Veterans? Home, due to complications from cancer.
Born Oct. 27, 1935, in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Mearle E. and Clara A. Garner Lasley. He graduated from Romney High School 1954.
Mr. Lasley spent 19 years in the Army, then was a driver for Schneider National Trucking Co. for 20 years. He was a member of the Romney Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his children, Caren Williams, Christine Cline, Clifford Lasley, Curtis Lasley, Steve Lasley, Rick Lasley and Sgt. Robert W. Lasley stationed in Kuwait; a sister, Helen Stingley (husband: Malcolm) of Lafayette; and a brother, Layne Lasley (wife: Patricia) of Romney.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elmwood Cemetery, the Rev. Mark Berg officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the Stockwell United Methodist Church Building Fund. Send condolences to www.soller-baker.com

Howard was one of my favorite cousins as children while we were growing up and when we attended family reunions. We kept in touch occassionally during later years. Sorry we were unable to attend the service but we did not learn of his passing until late on Monday, July 12th, 2010 when it was too late to change our plans.
