Herbert Arthur Deno, 85, of Ruskin, FL formerly of Fowler, passed away at Franciscan Health Lafayette East, on August 31, 2023, with his family by his side.

He was born April 3, 1938, in Earl Park to the late Eldred Isaac Deno and Alvera Alma (Hasser) Deno Pilotte. He was a graduate of Fowler High School and attended Purdue University. On June 16, 1962, Herb married the love of his life, Marilyn Swango in Fowler.  The two have spent 61 loving years together.

Herb was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette and attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Ruskin, FL.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and in his younger years, camping.  He loved working with plants and had a very green thumb.  Their yard was beautiful.  Above all, Herb cherished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.

Along with his wife Marilyn, he is survived by 5 children, Mark (Jamie) Deno of Westfield, Gregory Deno of Ruskin, FL, Theresa Deno of Lafayette, Vincent Deno of Wenham, MA, and Christopher Deno of Niles, MI; 11 grandchildren, Mary, Molly, Scott, Aaron, Kirsten, Finn, Cole, Malia, Elizabeth, Lucy, and Paul; 2 great-grandchildren, Lilly and Wyatt; 2 brothers, Kenny (Carol) Deno of Oxford and Gene Pilotte of Westchester, VA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eldred Deno in 1951; mother, Alvera Pilotte in 1980; and step-father, Verlie Arthur Pilotte in 1968.

Memorial contributions in Herb’s name may be given to the American Cancer Association.

A Rosary service will begin at 10:45 am, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1916 Meharry St., Lafayette, IN 47904.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of Eulogy at 12:30 pm with Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1916 Meharry St., Lafayette, IN 47904 with Father John Nguyen officiating.

Interment will be held at a later date at Fowler Cemetery in Fowler.
