Henry M. Burton, 80, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully at 10:55 pm, Friday, August 11, 2023, from Parkinson’s Disease at home with the love of his life, Janice Arnold by his side.
Henry was born February 1, 1943, in Somerset, KY to the late John and Edna (Calhoon) Burton. He attended grade school in Raub, IN and graduated from A.J. Kent High School in Kentland, IN. The family lived in Earl Park.
Henry served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his service, he worked at Peerless Wire, Egyptian Lacquer, and in the Tube Mill at ALCOA. He retired in 2009, from ALCOA after 41 years. In 1967, he met his forever love, Janice Arnold. Henry and Janice recently celebrated 56 years together. The couple loved to travel and have been to all 50 states, traveled throughout Canada and spent time on cruises to Alaska and Bermuda. They even camped through Europe in 1973, visiting 15 countries and traveling 9,000 miles in a Volkswagon (VW) Van. Henry also went on cruises to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, and Dubai UAE. He traveled all over Mexico, as well as to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and several other countries in Central America. He also went through the Panama and Suez Canals.
Along with the love of his life Janice Arnold of Lafayette, he is survived by 2 sisters, Christine Luttrell of Perryville, KY, Elizabeth (Larry) Hoyt of La Mar, MO; 2 brothers, Walter (Janice) Burton of Charlestown, IN, David (Yvonne) Burton of Forsyth, GA; sister-in-law, Evelyn Burton of Memphis, IN, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is also survived by a special cousin, Barbara Pruitt of Kentland, IN. He is also survived by Janice’s family; brothers Robert R. Arnold of Foley, AL and Richard (Ann) Arnold of Winder, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Burton; a brother, James Burton; nephew, Jeffery Burton; niece, Brenda Burton Carton; cousins, Orville Prather and Carolyn Prather Baker.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm, Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 N., West Lafayette, IN 47906.
