Henry J. Kaniewski, 75, of Lafayette died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at his residence. He was born August 23, 1938, in Perrysville, IN, to the late Henry and Eva Mathis Kaniewski. Henry graduated from Pine Village High School and served in the Army from 1956 to 1959. On June 11, 1971 he married Mary Schrader in Lafayette and she survives. Henry worked for Eli Lilly for 32 years retiring from there in 1993. He also has owned and operated K & Son Trucking since 1990 and has farmed in Tippecanoe County since 1977. He was a member of American Legion Post #11, Moose Lodge and the Eagles. Henry enjoyed camping, traveling, riding his Harley and playing music. Surviving along with his wife are his children Henry J. Kaniewski II (Erika) of Lafayette, Rodney Kaniewski (Willie) of Colfax, Jeffery Kaniewski of Lafayette, Rebecca Dawson (Randy) of Stockwell, stepchildren Rick Thomas (Muriel), Patti Barker (Tim) both of Lafayette, 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Art Kaniewski (Janie) of Versailles, KY Visitation will be 5-7 PM Sunday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham, Blvd. Funeral service will 10:00 AM Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery, Colfax, IN. Those wishing may contribute to the American Legion Post #11.
