Helen L. McBeath

Helen L. McBeath, 95, of Lafayette, died at 10:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at St. Mary Health Care.
She was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Oxford, and was the daughter of the late Amo Lee and Myrtle Marie Sturgeon Copas. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1932.
On June 4, 1934, she married John Wesley McBeath in Watseka, Ill. He died in 1993.
Mrs. McBeath had worked at Stuart&s Jewelry store in downtown Lafayette as a bookkeeper and in sales for many years. She enjoyed jewelry.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane Bengston and Mary Evelyn Bradley, both of Lafayette; three sisters, Vera Copas Nelson of West Lafayette, Vivian Yarnal of Lafayette and Janet Sue Logan (husband: Don) of San Angelo, Texas; four brothers, Charles W. Copas and Norman F. Copas, both of Lafayette, Donald J. Copas of Brunswick, Ga., and Stephen M. Copas (wife: Jan) of Tyler, Texas.
She was a good mother and sister. Surviving are 8 grandchildren, Mike Mills, Rusty Bengston, Jimmy, Brenda and Jeff Bradley, Carrie Gaston, Kelsey Santuro and Kris McBeath; and 12 great grandchidlren. Helen was preceded in death by a son, John Thornton McBeath, a sister, Marivene Rasmussen, and 3 brother,s Lee Copas Jr , Cecil Eugene Copas and Melvin G. Copas.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, IN 47906, the Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to the Alzheimers Association.
